Asked by Bryce D. in Michigan
ODIN
TECH GOD!Official AnswerIf an Evo-Tec On-Board Charger is accidentally submerged in water the charger should be removed from the water as soon as it is safe to do so and carefully inspected for signs of damage caused by water intrusion or unusual behavior before the charger is put back into service. If the charger shows signs of damage caused by water intrusion, discontinue the use of the charger immediately and contact Norsk Lithium customer service for further instructions.

Are the Evo-Tec On-Board Chargers waterproof?
Asked by Wesley C. in Colorado
ODIN
TECH GOD!Official AnswerAll Norsk Lithium Evo-Tec On-Board Chargers have an IP67 Rating, and all internal components are fully potted in epoxy to ensure EVO-TEC Chargers are suitable for use in extreme conditions. The IP67 Rating indicates the charger is protected against damage caused by water intrusion into the charger case to a depth of 1.5m / 4.9’ for 30 minutes.
Despite the IP67 Rating and the protection it provides, Norsk Lithium Evo-Tec On-Board Chargers should NEVER be intentionally submerged in water.

Can multiple banks of the same voltage from an Evo-Tec On-Board Charger provide a charge to a single battery?
Asked by Isaac R. in Wisconsin
ODIN
TECH GOD!Official AnswerYes, you can connect multiple banks of the same voltage from an Evo-Tec On-Board Charger to a single battery. Norsk Lithium marine batteries can charge up to half capacity, which gives you the ability to charge at a faster rate.
For example, a single 36V trolling battery could be charged by a two (2) bank charger with each bank of the charger outputting the appropriate 36V output voltage. This would charge the battery twice as fast when compared to using a one (1) bank charger of the same amp amount.

Can a single Evo-Tec On-Board Charger provide a charge to multiple batteries wired in parallel?
Asked by Hunter L. in Minnesota
ODIN
TECH GOD!Official AnswerWhen charging multiple batteries connected in parallel, it is possible to charge with a single charging bank, but it is not suggested.
We suggest having a separate dedicated bank on the charger for each individual battery. This gives the batteries a more consistent & equal charging cycle.
For example, two (2) 24V 60AH batteries wired in parallel to produce 24V 120AH output would be charged by a two (2) bank charger with each bank of the charger outputting the appropriate 24V output voltage and charge profile for each battery connected in parallel.

Can a single Evo-Tec On-Board Charger provide a charge to multiple batteries wired in series?
Asked by Ethan M. in Georgia
ODIN
TECH GOD!Official AnswerWhen charging multiple batteries connected in series, each battery must be charged by a separate dedicated bank on the charger that provides an output voltage and charge profile that matches the requirements of each individual battery being charged.
For example, three (3) 12V batteries wired in series to produce 36V output would be charged by a three (3) bank charger with each bank of the charger outputting the appropriate 12V output voltage and charge profile for each battery connected in series.

What is the ‘Over Temperature Protection Function’ on an Evo-Tec On-Board Charger?
Asked by Dylan H. in North Carolina
ODIN
TECH GOD!Official AnswerWhen the temperature of the radiator inside the charger is more than or equal to 80℃ ±5℃ (176°F ±9°F), the charger will automatically reduce the output current for over temperature protection. When the internal temperature drops, the charging current will gradually increase and finally recover to max output.

What is the max torque specification when connecting an Evo-Tec On-Board Charger to the battery terminals?
Asked by Caleb T. in Missouri
ODIN
TECH GOD!Official AnswerWhen connecting an Evo-Tec On-Board Charger to the terminals of the battery, you should not exceed a max torque force of 10ft-lbs. Exceeding this torque spec can cause damage to the battery hardware, terminals or both.

How do I properly connect my Evo-Tec On-Board Charger to the battery terminals?
Asked by Benjamin C. in North Dakota
ODIN
TECH GOD!Official AnswerWhen connecting a charger to a battery, connect the positive lead to the positive (+) terminal and the negative lead to the negative (-) terminal. Reverse polarity connection of leads to the battery terminals 4 may cause a short and may cause significant and irreparable damage to the battery charger and the battery. Damage of this type is NOT covered by warranty.
Make sure all connections are in full contact with the battery terminals and a max torque force of 10ft-lbs is applied. If the max torque force of 10ft-lbs is exceeded, the terminal may be damaged. Loose connections will result in significant heating due to the increased resistance caused by the loose connection and can result in permanent damage to the battery charger or battery.
It is recommended to put dielectric grease on the outer exposed surfaces of your terminals after the connection is complete. Dielectric grease stops air and moisture from corroding exposed metal parts of your connections.
DO NOT put dielectric grease in between the primary contact points of your electrically conducting components.
Install protective terminal covers on all battery terminals prior to use.

ODIN
TECH GOD!Official AnswerUse stainless steel fasteners to install the Evo-Tec On-Board Charger using the pre-drilled mounting holes found in the side flanges of each charger model.
Check the backside of the selected mounting position to ensure the fasteners will not puncture the hull, live well, baitwell, or wiring installed BEHIND the selected mounting location.

Can I mount my Evo-Tec On-Board Charger directly above my batteries?
Asked by Caleb R. in Texas
ODIN
TECH GOD!Official AnswerIf you are mounting your Evo-Tec On-Board Charger above a lithium battery, that is fine. DO NOT mount your charger immediately above a lead-acid or AGM battery. Gasses vented by the batteries may corrode and damage the charger
