PJ Vick – Co-Host of In-Depth Outdoors Talks About Ice Fishing Electronics

PJ Vick here at the In-depth Outdoor Studio. We are super excited the ice is here! We’re just about to load up and get on the road and hunt down some of the hottest bites at the best destinations here in the Upper Midwest for you viewers at home.

Before we head out – I get a lot of questions about what ice fishing electronics I’m using out there on the ice. First off this unit here has really changed the way I fish, this is the Humminbird Helix 9 Mega live Imaging, and what it allows me to do is break down water very effectively. We visit a lot of destinations that we have never visited before – so this unit allows me to go out and break it down very fast and very efficiently.

So once we’ve effectively broken down the body of water, I switch over to my Helix 7 powered by my 15 amp hour Norsk lithium battery.

Now let’s talk about ice batteries!

When film season comes around we don’t always get to choose what weather we go out and film in. Sometimes we get stuck in brutal cold fronts – and when I say brutal, I mean 20 to 30 below. Other days we get very favorable warm conditions.

With that being said we put these batteries to the test in every condition imaginable and they never let us down. I ran the same 15 amp hour Norsk Lithium battery the last three years and it has not let me down.

This time of year I’m on my phone a lot and I’m usually answering questions and talking with you – the fans -which I really, really enjoy. All ice batteries from Norsk Lithium have the integrated USB ports in the top of the battery, which allows me to charge my phone out there on the ice so I’m full of power. It also allows me to charge all of my other accessories that I may need.

Now let’s talk about my mega live setup. This setup is powered by the 20 amp hour Norsk Lithium battery. This unit allows me to fish all day, sunup to sundown, 10 to 12 hours. I have all the power that I need for those long days – in any conditions that are handed to me.

From PJ Vick and In-Depth Outdoors I hope you guys have a great season on the hard water. Good luck and maybe we’ll see you out there!

Very light, ran my Vexilar for 2 full days so far and haven’t recharged. Trying to see what I can get, but very impressed. The USB’s are great as my phone battery doesnt last in the cold so I have used it in the shack to recharge that a few times as well. Awesome product!

I’ve been running the Norsk 20ah for 4 weeks now. Never do I have to worry about power while out in my kayak. This thing is a beast.
